Entry Requirements
Our core entry requirements are:
- six or more GCSEs at grade 5+, including English and mathematics.
- you will also need to achieve 5+ in the subjects you wish to study at A-level. If you are new to the subject we will consider achievement in the GCSE that most closely corresponds.

Chemistry | GCSE Chemistry grade 6 or higher, or Combined Science grade 6,6 or higher |
Computer science | GCSE 6+ mathematics |
Physics | GCSE Physics grade 6 or higher, or Combined Science grade 6,6 or higher GCSE 6+ mathematics Must also choose to study A-level maths |
Psychology | GCSE 5+ in English literature, English language and a humanity (either history or geography) |
Criminology | GCSE 5+ in English Literature and English Language |
Environmental Science | GCSE Biology and Chemistry grade 5+ or Combined Science grades 6,6 |
English Literature | GCSE 5+ in both English literature and English language |
History | GCSE 5+ in English literature, English language and history |
Geography | GCSE 5+ in English literature, English language, geography and maths |
Sociology | GCSE 5+ in English literature, English language and a humanity (either history or geography) |
Philosophy | GCSE 6+ Religious Education and English or GCSE 6+ in English and a humanity |
Politics | GCSE 5+ in English literature, English language and a humanity (either history or geography) |
French | GCSE 5+ in French |
Art and Design | GCSE 5+ in art or graphics |
Food Science and Nutrition | GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition at 5 grade and a minimum of 5 in Science , English and Maths. Those who have not studied GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition will be considered, however, they would have to show that they are capable and confident in the Food Room—this will be demonstrated through a number of short practical activities to be undertaken by the student. |
